Blended colors are mixed within a layer and the pallet. Typically a third will be all
one color, a third will be half- &-half, and a third will be the
other color when looking at the layer. This creates mottled tones
across the pavement when pavers are placed at random. It is also very
common in today's market to use two or more blends together adding a
variety of colors with very little or no added cost.

When using solid colors it is important that pavers be pulled from several different pallets to insure a good color mix. It is also meaningful to know that the solid colors are not exact matches to the corresponding color within a blend. This is due to the blending process that mutates the two base solid colors. From a design stand point it's valuable for creating distinct visual edges or borders that differ from the field while still keeping a similar tone.
